Jenna and Jillian Thistlethwaite, now toddlers living in Ohio (USA), are the shining example of just how close twins really are. In fact, they’ve been close ever since gestation. The sisters are monoamniatic or “mono mono” twins; meaning they shared the same amniotic sac. After “rooming” together for 33 weeks within their mother’s belly, the two were born on May 9th, 2014.

They were born only 48 seconds apart through a C-section birth. Doctors claim when the two were brought within reaching distance of each other, they joined hands, and wouldn’t let go.

Their mother, Sarah Thistlethwaite, recollects on their birth with TODAY. “I heard Dr. Wolfe say, ‘Oh my gosh, they’re holding hands,’ and then Dr. Manacuso was like, ‘Hold them up so mum can see them’,” she said.

“I couldn’t believe they were holding hands. That was amazing. It was beautiful,” she added.

Their relationship hasn’t changed much according to their mother. In fact, she says that whenever one of the sisters leaves the room, crying ensues!

“Honestly, splitting them up, or doing anything with those two separately will make them cry. They don’t want to be away from each other. They need each other, they’re there for each other and they’ve got such an attachment,” Sarah explained.
