With the Trump Kim Summit in Singapore happening between June 10 and June 14,  suddenly everyone is all a-buzz. Is it possible to head to various parts of Singapore without getting caught in long traffic jams? What about roadblocks and areas to avoid when out an about with the kids? Don’t worry mums and dads, here’s what you need you need to know of what you should and should not do during the Trump Kim Summit in Singapore.

1. Security Restrictions During the Trump Kim Summit in Singapore

In preparation for the event, the Singapore Police has marked out two parts of the city as “Enhanced Security Special Event Areas”. Areas affected include Sentosa Island in the south, as well as areas surrounding Shangri-La Hotel. Additional to that, the police force will also be setting up additional security checks at “Special Zones” within the Special Event Areas.

Channel News Asia also reported that airspace will be restricted during this period so travellers arriving and departing from Singapore from the 10th-14th should expect flight delays.

4. List of Prohibited Items

  1. Any noxious or offensive substance
  2. Flares or signal of any kind used as a distress signal
  3. Flammable material
  4. Explosives
  5. Any arms within the meaning of the Arms and Explosives Act
  6. An item capable of attaching a person to an object or another person, or preventing removal of any locking or connecting device.
  7. Aerosol paint container or other implement or substance that is capable of being used to mark graffiti
  8. A loud hailer
  9. Flags or banners larger than one metre by one metre, or has a handle longer than one metre
  10. Any public address system, electronic equipment, broadcast equipment or similar device which may interfere with broadcast equipment or similar devices being used by:
    a. the event organiser of the Summit between US and DPRK at or for the special event; or
    b. a person, authorised by the event organiser or under the Act, to use such equipment or devices
  11. A remotely piloted aircraft system for a remotely piloted aircraft, comprising:
    a. the remotely piloted aircraft
    b. every remote pilot station associated with the remotely piloted aircraft containing the equipment used to pilot that aircraft
    c. the command and control links between the remotely piloted aircraft and its remote pilot station or stations and other command
    d. any other components, as specified in the type design of the remotely piloted aircraft system, to fly that aircraft

Please be mindful of the prohibited items listed and only bring what is needed. We would like to remind all parents to be patient and cooperative when entering the designated zones. 

If you are considering public transport during this period keep your children close to you as heavy crowds are expected.

It is not clear yet what the two leader will talk about. But we certainly hope “peace” is on their list of things to discuss!
