My little girl turned 5 recently – and as part of her birthday celebration, we decided to go for a short staycation. So, imagine how excited she was when we were gifted with a Trunki luggage bag, a Trunki Paddlepak Kids backpack, and a pair of Squids sunglasses for kids – just in time for her birthday and the staycation!

I didn’t manage to capture any shots of my girl riding on her Trunki luggage bag on the way to the hotel as we had our hands full with bags and our squirmy little boy, but here’s how it looks like:

The Trunki is a one of the must-have essentials for travelling with kids. Tip: Hold on to the green ‘horns’ while riding!

The Trunki luggage bag is perfect for kids because it’s so much more than just a suitcase. It can be carried or pulled (either by the adult or child – simply adjust the strap provided accordingly):

The Trunki provides kids with a seat wherever they may be! This is especially helpful when waiting at hotel lobbies or even at the airport if travelling overseas.

Apart from being a great toy in itself, the Trunki is a very functional suitcase where kids can pack in their essentials, toys and what not:

The Trunki luggage bag also comes with a cute ‘passport’ to keep your little one entertained while travelling.

Once we settled down in our hotel room, we got ready to explore the pool. Since it was mid-afternoon, my girl brought out her new Squids sunglasses:

One of our favourite essentials for travelling with kids: Turquoise Squids sunglasses and a cute green PVC pouch

The Squids sunglasses is designed to protect your little one’s eyes from harmful sun damage during active outdoor play. This was perfect for our staycation as we were in the sun quite a bit.

These lightweight flexible frames with 100% UV protective, shatterproof lens, designed to fit kids aged 3-10, stayed firmly wrapped around her face. The sunglasses helped to keep her eyes well protected, even as she swam at the pool.

The high flex frames float in water – so there’s no need to worry about bringing it along for a leisurely dip.

Sunnies taking a dip in the pool

Since we went to the beach and to the pool, it was really handy to have the Trunki Paddlepak Kids Backpack with us. Not only is it irresistibly adorable, it is also water resistant – perfect for days out at the beach, swimming pool or even for school.

The design of the backpack is inspired by adults’ outdoor bags, with the similar roll top seal:

And it comes with Paddlepak’s patent-pending break-away safety buckle to seal the bag.

The safety buckle seals the bag

The Trunki grip™ attached to one of the shoulder straps is also perfect for sunglasses/goggles, so there’s no need to open the bag to take out or keep the sunglasses:

The perfect grip for your sunnies

The Paddlepak also features a tail fin that not only completes the look of the bag and increases its cuteness quotient, it doubles up as a functional pocket to keep little items separate from the main bag compartment.

Great for storing our hotel room card and the little seashells we collected from the beach

The Trunki luggage suitcase, the Paddlepak backpack and the Squids sunglasses proved to be really wonderful essentials that made our little getaway more complete and enjoyable – especially for my girl who simply adored her lovely birthday gifts!
