Tokyo Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place from 23 July to 9 August 2021 at the National Stadium in Tokyo.

The Opening Ceremony on Friday (23 July) will begin at approximately 6pm in Singapore. The programme is said to go on for about four hours so you absolutely can’t miss it!

For the Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony this 2021, you can expect unique artistic programmes showcasing the host country’s culture and history. 

It’s not an Olympic Opening Ceremony without the Parade of Nations, releasing of doves and, of course, the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.

In Singapore, 14 dedicated channels will cover the Olympics, as provided by Mediacorp. This includes a daily television broadcast on both Channel 5 and MeWatch.

  • Me Watch
    All these 14 channels will be free to view on the MeWatch website and app. You can also catch a specially curated channel focusing solely on Team Singapore events. 
  • Channel 5
    Channel 5 will be airing over 200 hours of coverage of the Tokyo Olympics 2021. They will broadcast breaking news updates through local news bulletins, radio stations and digital portals.
  • Singtel
    Singtel customers also get to watch the Olympic Games on all 14 channels for free on Singtel TV, Singtel TV Go and on the Cast app.
