This Ant Remedy is Foolproof and You Only Need 2 Ingredients (Which You Can Find In Your Kitchen)

Getting rid of them permanently is the best.

On a scale that runs from one to things-that-should-burn-in-hell, ants are definitely hell-bound.

If you see one of those creepy little scouts sniffing around with their antennae, you know in a matter of hours, a line of their mates will be marching, unstoppable, to carry away crumbs or get stuck under the lid of your honey jar.

DIY ant remedy

We had an ant problem last summer and the worst thing was, we couldn’t figure out how they were getting inside. Was it a hole in the sliding glass door frame? Were they coming under the front door? HAD THEY MADE A NEST UNDER OUR FLOORBOARDS AND WERE PLOTTING TO EAT US ALIVE WHILE WE SLEPT?

*shudder*

Fellow ant-haters, we’re not alone. Mum Charlie was having serious problems with ants, so she spent a whopping $8.50 and solved the problem. Permanently.

“I’m beyond over the ants"

Charlie’s ant situation was escalating quickly. “Ants have gone super crazy in the last 24 hours and I’m beyond over them," she wrote on Facebook.

“I’m trying Borax and honey… they are definitely loving it."

Unfamiliar with the genius idea of combining two normal household items to commit ant-ocide, followers asked for Charlie’s recipe.

Using a milk bottle lid as the vessel, she covered the bottom with honey and mixed in enough Borax to make a paste.

It seems like the ants would just drown in the sticky mixture, but the remedy is more clever. Ants ingest the syrup and bring it back to the nest to unwittingly poison all their ant friends.

“So trying this"

Another woman shared a similar method that wasn’t as sticky.

“You can also do equal parts Borax and white sugar," she wrote. “That way (especially outside) they walk all over it, ingest it, and then take it back inside their nest.

“It won’t be as quick as ant sand, but it will be way more enduring. You’ll notice a huge difference in three days."

“So trying this," wrote another person.

Ditto.
