Check out our list of must-read books for this june holidays

We are halfway through the June holidays and many kids are already away for the holidays or busy with camps. But wherever the kids are and whatever they are doing, a little bit of reading can definitely be sneaked in! Your kid could be not to big a fan of reading, or she could be the most voracious of bookworms who has already read half the library – whatever their interest in reading, we are sure they will find at least a book or two on our list that will intrigue them enough. So here goes:

Mystical magic

Wizardry, vampires and ghouls still remain popular amongst kids of all ages and there are many books that weave the magical worlds with great mastery. We recommend the modern-day children’s classics: J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter series and Rick Riordon’s Percy Jackson series. And while Roald Dahl’s books are not about wizards and demigods, many of them have a touch of magic about them. His books especially invite readers into a world where kids get up to completely wild and whacky adventures. Our favourites are Matilda, George’s Marvellous Medicine and BFG (Big Friendly Giant).

June isn’t over yet, so you still have plenty of time to be a book worm!

Classically yours

You can never go wrong with the classics and they are a stellar addition to any reading list for kids. Boost your vocabulary and put on that posh English accent as you embark on mysteries and adventures with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous creation, Sherlock Holmes. Follow Holmes as he investigates mysterious deaths and even more odd creatures that go bump and howl in the night. Our picks for after lunch readings: The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
