From now until 15 August 2021, Science Centre Singapore and its Group of Attractions will only operate from 2pm to 5pm on Fridays to Sundays, Public and School Holidays.

They will revert to the usual operating hours from 20 August 2021. Please note that they are closed on 10 August 2021. Do visit www.science.edu.sg/visit-us/opening-hours for the latest opening hours.

1. Da Vinci, The Exhibition

Be inspired to innovate at Da Vinci, The Exhibition at Science Centre Singapore!

Officially launched on 18 June 2021, our latest blockbuster exhibition boasts the largest collection of Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions in Southeast Asia. The exhibition examines da Vinci’s life, research and art through the years.

Spread across ten different exhibition zones, guests will get to learn da Vinci’s complex beginning and lifetime achievements in Renaissance paintings, physics, music, military, flight, civil engineering, hydraulics and more. The exhibition will send guests of all ages on a truly exciting and inspiring journey into the past where they will get to know a true “Renaissance man”!

Highlights:
• Features more than 50 fully built, life-size inventions and over 20 stunning displays.
• Constructed by trained artisans who used da Vinci’s codices to design and build his inventions, bringing to life many machines and devices that were designed but never created due to the lack of modern technologies in the 15th Century.
• Unravel the artist’s intricate designs and extraordinary early concepts on modern inventions including the parachute and scuba suit.
• Get an in-depth view of da Vinci’s exploration into the world of anatomy including his famous studies on subjects such as the golden ratio and “Vitruvian Man”.

3. Butterflies Up-Close

Dance with beautiful butterflies* from around the region at Singapore’s first indoor butterfly enclosure, where humidity and temperature are carefully regulated to ensure that plants and butterflies can thrive.

This month, could you spot the Common Rose Butterfly? Hint: the Common Rose Butterfly has bright red patterns on its wings and shows peculiar flight movement, warning its predators that they are not edible as they are protected by the poisons sequestered from its larval food plant.

*The number of butterflies and species vary depending on the season.
