Swift Explorers Singapore 2022 features a series of free coding-related activities that allow students to learn app design and Swift coding on the iPad. The primary beneficiaries of this event are those students from Primary Schools to Junior Colleges.
The programme aims to empower students with critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills through basic coding on the iPad. They also learn effective business skills through pitching app ideas to a broader audience.
Additionally, they also gain access to the same opportunities and resources as real-world developers. It offers several benefits for students to help them identify, design, prototype, and build applications.
The Swift Explorers Singapore 2022
Swift Explorers Singapore (SES) is a seven-month-long app development initiative managed and organised by Cresent Girls' school. They maximised the resources from Apple and training supported by Tinkeracademy, an Apple Professional Learning Provider.
For the event, Crescent Girls' School and Tinkeracademy aimed to impart digital literacy skills among students. They also hope to nurture the youth's love for coding with fun and educational methods.
On the 8th of July, students and educators from 58 schools in Singapore celebrated one of their exciting milestones. They celebrated the completion of the first stage of their app development journey. Along with this, over 20 schools showcased their app concepts to the world at a graduation ceremony.
Selection of School Teams and Their App Ideas

Methodist Girls' School
Methodist Girls' School team is composed of only three members: Kealani, Anayah, and Kaveri.
They made the Rikkasu app to help those mentally troubled with their mental health. It would help provide stress-relieving entertainment and media such as games and music.
Raffles Girls' School (Secondary)
Faith, Rachel, Rashee, Sanvi, and Sze Yin were the members who completed the team from Raffles Girls' School.
The team created the app called SimpleNav. It is a navigation app designed with the needs of the elderly in mind. In this app, anyone and everyone have a friend to provide clear and simple directions to guide them to their destination through the safest route.
Crescent Girls' School
The team from Crescent Girls' School is composed of four members namely: Neha, Yui Xue, Nichole, and Ashely.
The team invented the app Elderly Care, which aims to help caretakers manage the elderly's daily life. Aside from that, the app will serve as a journal of beautiful memories created together.
Chongzheng Primary School
The team from Chongzhen Primary School is composed of four members. It includes Nur Sarah Bte Mohammed Shahfiran, Sarah Ho, Teh Jing Ern, and Shannon Ma Shu Ya.
The group made the Comment On It app, which will be helpful for the public as well as people with disabilities and their caregivers. It allows them to give constructive feedback about any places in public that poses challenges to the movement of people with disabilities.
Victoria Junior College
The members of the team from Victoria Junior College were Pan Xilu and Zhou Haoqui. They created the Medit app, which reminds people suffering from chronic illnesses to take their medicine regularly.

The primary goal of Swift Explorers Singapore is for the youth to learn more about app design and coding on iPad using Swift.
Throughout the programme, students will be able to develop some of their skills, including critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. The good thing about this is that the youth would access the same opportunities and resources as those real-world developers.
In addition, youth participating in the programme can focus on bringing their apps to life through coding on iPad Swift. They would be able to present the apps their created using Swift Playgrounds.
Concerning things, Swift is a powerful open language that lets everyone build amazing apps. It is a robust and intuitive programming language created by Apple. Additionally, it is easy to use and open source; anyone with an idea can make something out of it.
On the other hand, Swift Playgrounds is a revolutionary app for iPad and Mac. It makes it fun for youth to learn and experiment with Swift. In addition, it would be perfect for beginners and students just starting as it requires no coding knowledge.
Users also get the chance to master the basics by solving puzzles. After that, they would step up to learn the building blocks of apps with interactive walkthroughs. Its users would have fun creating their real-life apps through Swift Playground.
