From April this year, families were allowed to board buses with open strollers. And now, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that from today, 29 June 2017, they will be trying out a new stroller restraint system on Singapore buses, starting with bus Service 69 – to help parents and care-givers secure open strollers on buses.

Apparently, Bus Service 69 was chosen for the trial because it plies along housing estates and schools in the Bedok and Tampines areas, serving mainly families and residents going towards Tampines Bus Interchange and MRT station.

The stroller restraint system consists of two slots for insertion of the side handle of stroller, as well as a retractable seatbelt, to secure the stroller. The child should be seated with the stroller’s seat belts fastened.

How to secure the stroller on a stroller restraint:

  • Identify which slot to use: A forward facing stroller should use the slot closer to the front of the bus, while a backward facing stroller should use the slot closer to the rear of the bus.
