No, this is not a rumour and yes, you heard right - Sumiko Tan, arguably Singapore's most well-known single lady, is finally tying the knot. For those who don't already know who she is, Sumiko Tan is the editor of The Sunday Times and has been writing in the newspapers since the 1990s about the joys of single hood, her relationships, dating experiences, love and her doubts and skepticism about marriage. Now, at the age of 46, Sumiko Tan has found love in the form of a teenage crush from Anglo-Chinese Junior College, Quek Suan Shiau, 48, who she met when she was just 16 years old!

It's funny what love can do to a person. Just a year ago, the writer penned the following in her column on how she felt like she was missing out on married life:

"Is there something wrong with me? Is this all there is to life? Why aren't I married? Am I not good enough? Am I not lovable enough? Am I not capable of loving deeply and permanently? Have I been too fussy? Do I have bad karma?"

And now, a year later, she's finally happy and settled as she writes in one of her latest articles:

"And so, that’s how I finally did it. At such an old age. Giving up my singlehood after so many years of wondering if I’d ever find the right one – or if there was a right one in the first place. And there he was, right under my nose when I was 16 and in school."

While we're happy for her, we can't help but wonder- what will she write about now?
And will she still divulge personal details of her bliss and troubles once she is married?
