With the June School holidays right around the corner, outdoor cycling is a fantastic activity that the whole family can enjoy. Here’s why Apple Watch is the perfect companion to encourage your loved ones to stay active.

Track Your Workout Right From Your Wrist

If you don’t track your workout, does it even count? Apple Watch makes it even easier to accurately track your workouts and view all your metrics, right from your wrist.

Starting a workout with Apple Watch is easy, either go into the Workout app or simply ask Siri “Hey Siri, start an outdoor cycle!”

Forget to start your workout? In watchOS 5 or later, when your Apple Watch senses that you’re working out, it taps you on the wrist and asks. Simply ensure that Workout Reminder is on in your settings and never miss a workout.

Working out with kids means you often have to take breaks, with Auto-Pause Apple Watch will automatically pause your workout and restart it for you, so you can focus on what’s important. With watchOS 8, Apple Watch uses advanced algorithms to analyse GPS, heart rate, accelerometer, and gyroscope data to detect when users begin a ride. It also prompts them to start an Outdoor Cycle workout if one wasn’t initiated.

Apple Watch is fully optimised to track your Outdoor Cycle, whether it’s speed, distance or elevation, your metrics will be ready for review after your workout. You can check out all the workout types available on Apple Watch here.

Sharing is caring! Share your Activity rings with friends and family for motivation and you’ll be able to encourage each other to close all three rings, compete to win the week or let them track your daily progress.

Take That Perfect Family Selfie With Camera Remote App

Easily commemorate a fun family day out with the Camera Remote app on Apple Watch. Simply position your iPhone for a photo, take the photo and view it right from your Apple Watch. You can also use your Apple Watch to set a shutter timer—this gives you time to lower your wrist and raise your eyes when you’re in the shot.

Find out more information on how to review your shot or choose a different camera/angle here.

Durability is important when it comes to devices that are used by the whole family. Apple Watch Series 7 is the most durable Apple Watch ever and features a redesigned front crystal with a stronger and more robust geometry that is over 50% thicker than that of the Apple Watch Series 6, making it more crack-resistant without compromising optical clarity.

Apple Watch Series 7 is also certified IP6X dust-resistant, making it more durable in environments like the beach or the desert, while still maintaining excellent swimming performance with a water resistance rating of WR50.

Safety Comes First

Since its launch in 2018, fall detection on Apple Watch has proven to be a valuable safety tool, recognising if a user is immobile for approximately one minute if a hard fall is detected, and initiating a call to emergency services right from the wrist. This is a great feature for all Apple Watch users, no matter the age.

With watchOS 8, fall detection algorithms are updated and optimised for detecting falls during workouts — including cycling — and have been tuned to recognise the unique motion and impact of falls from a bike and other workout types.
