A COVID-19 cluster emerged at a PCF Sparkletots centre in Serangoon Ave 3 causing it to close for the time being. The centre will reopen on September 21 after deep cleaning and disinfection.
COVID-19 Cluster Found At PCF Sparkletots Centre In Serangoon Ave 3
The PCF Sparkletots @ Braddell Heights centre at Block 335 Serangoon Ave 3 closed on 7 September to engage a National Environment Agency-certified vendor for deep cleaning of its premises and equipment.
Senior director of PCF's preschool management division Ms Marini Khamis said the centre will undergo deep cleaning and disinfection before reopens.
On Sunday, she told The Straits Times that the centre will reopen on 21 September, 2021 "barring further developments."
As of Saturday, three cases have been added to the PCF Sparkletots Braddel Heights cluster. This brings the total of cases to 22.
The Ministry of Health reported that "transmission among students in the same class, with further spread to household contact of cases."
Parents Are Urged To Keep Their Children At Home If They Feel Unwell
Ms Marini also urged parents to monitor their children's health. They should also seek immediate medical attention if they feel unwell and remain at home until fully recovered.
"The health and safety of our children and staff are our highest priority and we are monitoring the situation closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)," said Ms Marini as per ST.
She added that the Sparkletots centre at Serangoon Ave 3 is in close contact with parents of their students. The centre will also continue to adhere strictly to the safe management measures that have been put in place to protect students and staff. This includes regular temperature screening and health checks.
"We also stand ready to adjust or step up our measures where required or upon ECDA's advice," says Ms Marini.
Health And Safety Guidelines For Preschools As Advised By ECDA
The ECDA previously released the follow safety measure for preschools and centres to adhere to right now. The following health and safety guidelines were advised to reduce the risk of transmission:
1. Inform your child's preschool if they or any household member has been either:
- Issued a Quarantine Order
- Issued with a SHN
- Placed on LOA or phone surveillance
- Undergoing mandatory COVID-19 tests
2. Continue to monitor your child's health. Also be on the lookout for a fever or respiratory symptoms such as a sore throat, runny nose, cough and breathlessness.
3. Keep your child at home if they feel unwell. Parents are then highly advised to seek help from a doctor. They should also inform the preschool about their child's condition and can bring them back once fully recovered.
