 What is Smile Asia Week?

Smile Asia Week: Find out how you can give kids with facial deformities a reason to smile this Mother's Day!

A regional initiative by The Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Asia, Smile Asia Week is a charity drive that brings together a group of renowned pastry chefs around the region who will bake 7,000 Valrhona Chocolate and Banana cakes. This is to raise funds for Operation Smile, an international children's medical charity which helps give kids with cleft lips or palates a reason to smile again.

Since 1982, Operation Smile has treated more than 200,000 children in 51 countries, free of charge. In China, more than 8,500 children and young adults have been treated for cleft lips and palates; while in India, more than 15,000 patients have been given a new lease of life.

Kids with cleft are often unable to eat, speak, socialise with people around them, let alone smile. Operation Smile provides free surgeries to heal the smiles of children and transform their lives from as little as US$285 per surgery.
