As the countdown to the big day continues, the 600-strong team are also completing the final part of their comprehensive training. Experts from LEGOLAND® Parks around the world have also been providing additional specialist support since July 2012.
Siegfried Boerst, General Manager of LEGOLAND®said: “We have built and trained an excellent team here. We are using the next two weeks to fine-tune every aspect of the Park because we want to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience when we open our doors. I am pleased to say our rides are running, our chefs are cooking, and our shops are fully stocked.”
Speciality shops
The retail highlight at LEGOLAND® is the Big Shop. This speciality store covers an area of 1,000 square metres and has the largest selection of LEGO® toys in Asia. The Big Shop is stocked with rare items as well as merchandise sourced exclusively by the LEGO Group from Europe. Boasting over 500 LEGO sets and carrying more than 1,500 licensed LEGO products it is a retail heaven for any LEGO fan.
Another speciality store in LEGOLAND® is the Brick Shop. This is the only shop of its kind in Asia where LEGO® fans can buy single LEGO bricks. There are 275 different LEGO elements to choose from to help fans build their own unique designs. The Brick Shop also features a Build-a-Minifigure section where shoppers can create their very own LEGO figures.
The four other retail shops are the Mini Market, the Kings Market, the Adventure Depot and the shop in the Driving School. At the Mini Market, visitors can buy a host of essentials needed for the Park visit. The Kings Market is an open-air marketplace in the Castle’s Courtyard. It is stocked with special themed costumes. The Adventure Depot features merchandise relating to the LEGOLAND® Adventure and Lost Kingdom areas. At the Driving School, is a LEGO® City themed shop where children can also get their first “driving licence” after completing the LEGOLAND Driving School.
A full day of fun for families
Mr Boerst said: “We cannot wait to welcome everyone to LEGOLAND®. This unique Park will be an unforgettable experience for children and their families.”
LEGOLAND® features 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions. It offers a full day of adventure for young children and their families. Offering seven areas with different themes, the Park encourages children to learn, have fun and bond with their families.
In LEGO® City, where LEGO themed fire engines, airplanes, boats and cars are featured, children will also be able to take their first diving lesson. The Driving School offers a unique chance to drive on a true-to-life traffic circuit. There are even special cars for the very young.
For the daring and adventurous, visitors can head to the LEGO® Technic area where Project X, the Park’s fastest roller coaster, will offer a wild ride up to 18 metres above the ground.
The highest attraction is the Observation Tower in the Imagination area. This takes visitors to a viewing position 41m above the ground and offers an excellent aerial view of the Park. The LEGO® Studios is also located in this area and offers a fascinating 4D movie adventure where wind, smoke and water take 3D into the next dimension.
