We just saw the scariest video. A Singapore schoolboy narrowly escaped getting hit by cars…TWICE! We kid you not, our hearts skipped a beat, especially the second time around!

Singapore Schoolboy Nearly Hit by Cars

The heart-stopping video was first uploaded on Facebook by user Felix Chan. Apparently, the incident happened on Monday, 3 September 2018, at the T-Junction along Bedok North Ave 3 and New Upper Changi Road, at about 8:35 am.

The schoolboy is seen waiting at the traffic light, holding a red umbrella. Another pedestrian is also waiting near him.

An oncoming car collides with another car that was turning at the T-junction, resulting in both cars swerving one after the other, towards the traffic light where the boy is standing.

LTA to Review Traffic Light Scheme at Right-Turn Junctions

There have been a number of fatal accidents at right turn junctions, prompting authorities to review the rules.

On 19 April 2018, a horrific car crash involving a taxi and a car at the junction of Clementi Road and Commonwealth Avenue West claimed the life of one young woman. Yet another fatal accident in Bukit Tikah claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman.

A petition to change right-turn traffic rules has drawn more than 17,000 signatures.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has decided to install red-amber-green arrows in as many of the 1,600 traffic junctions as possible in the coming years. This means that motorists will have to wait for the arrow to turn green before making a right turn.
