News of a Singapore school van accident has been reported. The incident happened on 25 April 2018 early in the morning.
A school van carrying 4 students crashed into a lamp post along Mandai Avenue at around 6.40 am. A group of Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) medics who were on their way to an outfield exercise, stopped to help the injured.
According to Channel NewsAsia, 3 children aged between 10 and 12 were taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. A 14-year-old boy was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. All the children were conscious.
Singapore School Van Accident
According to a Facebook post by the Singapore Army, “Our servicemen from the Combat Medic Specialist Course of the SAF Medical Training Institute (SMTI) were en route to an outfield exercise when they came across an accident.”
“ME3 Ng Jaan Woei, Officer Commanding, Emergency Medical Technician Specialist (EMTS), SMTI, halted the convoy of SAF vehicles after seeing the four children crying and the driver at the side of the road at the accident scene.”
He also, “aided a boy who sustained a bad cut on his forehead and cuts on his legs due to the shattered glass from the school van.”
While 3SG Tay Yong Xi Delwin, an emergency medical technician specialist at SMTI, “was the medic who aid the other boy that suffered from a cut on his forehead and his left elbow.”
Meanwhile, ME2 Muhammad Zulhilmi, and other instructors and trainees removed the fallen lamp post, thereby clearing the way for the ambulance to arrive.
The injured were subsequently handed over to SCDF ambulance paramedics.
