A mum has recently highlighted a Singapore clinic’s negligence, after her five-month-old vomiting baby was allegedly not attended to, by the clinic.

“It almost cost my daughter’s life…” she says.

Mum Shares Singapore Clinic’s Negligence

Mummy Claudia Seng revealed what had happened in a long post on Facebook. The clinic in question is situated in Teck Whye Lane.

Claudia shares that on 12 September 2018, her mother-in-law brought her baby outside to have her breakfast.

The five-month-old started vomiting, causing the mother-in-law to panic. She immediately took her to the nearest clinic. The child was apparently already breathing heavily by then.

“But the nurses in the clinic refused her even when my mother-in-law begged to let her see the doctor thrice. I believe even if there are patients queuing, they would have let my daughter through first knowing the urgency of the medical attention at that point of time.

“However, they were being refused and asked to leave. My mother-in-law rushed home and alerted me.”

By the time they reached home, the baby had vomited a second time.

“My Baby Almost Turned Blue…”

Things got serious when Claudia noticed that her baby was turning blue.

“Her forehead was already turning blueish. She was already out of breath and almost unconscious. When the paramedical team arrived, they took her heart beat and it had already dropped to 66 bpm. Which is very dangerous for an infant with their average heartbeat being 100 bpm.

“We were rushed to NUH and oxygen mask was given to my daughter throughout the journey. Luckily she regained consciousness when we arrived at the hospital.”

Claudia is upset that things had to get so bad. She feels that if her child had got prompt treatment at the clinic, she wouldn’t have been in that terrible situation.

“I just want to emphasise that even though the clinic was not a pediatric clinic, the least they could do was to attend to my helpless mother-in-law and my daughter and at least offer to call an ambulance for her.

“What if during the time my mil rush back home my daughter was totally unconscious? Imagine the tragedy if things were not as blessed as it is now.”

She says that the clinic staff continues to be unapologetic about their behaviour.

“When my mil went back to the clinic to complain, the nurses were very rude and aggressive. They even told my mil to report to the police if she is unhappy. Not even guilty or empathetic or apologetic.”

We are glad that the little baby is doing fine now.

According to WebMD, “If there is a bluish cast over the entire body, the blood may be lacking sufficient oxygen. Blue primarily around the lips may also indicate low blood oxygen.”

“This is very worrisome and you should seek medical attention immediately. It’s also concerning if you notice any blueness at all when it seems like your baby might be having trouble breathing.”

“But you don’t need to worry if your baby’s hands and feet turn blue for a short period of time when the rest of the body is pink and your baby is breathing normally.”
