Are you a stay at home mom who's ready to jump back into the workforce? Well, apparently so are 60,000 other women in Singapore!
With Singapore looking at how to raise its productivity, the labour movement's also exploring how to do so through the NTUC Women's Development's seminar. The session provided insights to its 150 union officials and management representatives on how productivity can be raised when workers enjoy a balanced lifestyle.
Deputy Secretary-General for NTUC Madam Halimah also announced Live @ Work, a one-hour talk programme to help employees achieve a better worklife. Last week, some 80 employees attended the programme's pilot run which addressed working women's concerns in balancing multiple roles as a wife, mother and employee. Out of this, more than half of the younger women are armed with at least a diploma. And that's where the back-to-work programme can help.
Some 7,000 women have returned to the workforce, thanks to the programme that started in late 2007.
With the help of the programme, the NTUC's Women Development Secretariat is targeting to get 3,000 women back to work this year.
