A 9-year-old Singapore boy gets beaten up and dangled out of the window after he was placed in his aunt’s care.

Singapore boy gets beaten up by aunt

According to The Straits Times, the boy was entrusted in the care of his aunt after his parents were sent to prison. Far from being taken care of, he ended up as a victim of horrific abuse.

Apparently, not only was he hit repeatedly with household items, and burned, on one occasion he even got dangled out of the third-floor window.

The long list of abuse includes being hit on the head more than once with an extendable pole hanger and a back scratcher, and on the elbow and leg with a pestle. His arms were burned multiple times with the hot end of a modified gas lighter.

Once, the child was so afraid of being hit, he ran away. He was soon caught by his aunt though. She made him squat on the floor, picked him by his legs and dangled him out of the window. The poor kid held on to a bamboo pole fearing for his life.

The abuse finally came to light after a teacher noticed the child’s injuries. She informed The Child Protection Service.

The child was treated for multiple injuries and bruises.

Aunt gets jailed

On Monday, Jan 22, the aunt was jailed for 10 months.

According to The Straits Times, District Judge Lim Keng Yeow said: “Acts of abuse against vulnerable children, especially when carried out by someone responsible for safeguarding their well-being, will always be regarded as particularly reprehensible and deserving of the full force of the law.”
