Singapore is ready to pay tribute to its frontline workers and migrant workers with a nationwide sing-along this weekend. On April 25, Saturday, at 7.55pm, citizens will join hands in support of the superheroes who have dedicated themselves to helping those in need.
In a unique show of solidarity, all Singaporeans will join together virtually, at 7.55 pm this Saturday. They will sing along with celebrities and music stars at this biggest session called Sing Together Singapore! There will be two sessions for you to feel one with the nation.
What is Sing Together Singapore About?
So Drama! Entertainment with support from gov.sg Nexus (part of Defence Policy Group) is putting up this initiative. The sessions will have prominent singers singing the famous National Day song, Home. The first edition of the nationwide karaoke will feature the song’s composer Dick Lee singing along with Shabir, Taufik Batisah, Rahimah Rahim and artists from Mediacorp Vernetta Lopez, Rebecca Lim, Desmond Tan and Felicia Chin.
This session will be available on meWATCH, TV channels, radio stations and the social media pages of Instagram and Facebook of Mediacorp. You will also get them on radio stations of So Drama! Entertainment.
You can join in at this mass event with the rest of Singaporeans. Families can sing along with the relayed music from their homes. You are encouraged to stand near windows or balconies and wave torchlights as you croon with the maestros. If you know your choir parts, you can sing along. If you don’t know the lyrics, downloads are available at voicesofsingapore.com for free virtual scores.
You may consider shooting and uploading a video of the same on your social media page. Selected videos will make way into a second ‘Home’ session which will appear at 10.30 pm the same night. If you are lucky you may be featured in this second special video.
To upload your video, connect to Mediacorp platforms – TV, radio, social media pages – or So Drama! Entertainment radio stations. Gather your family to be situated near windows, doors, or balcony of your home. Carry torchlights and smartphone/camera with you. As you sing with the rest of the nation, record yourself, your family and neighbours. Next, you have to post these videos on social media with two hashtags – #singtogetherSG and #stayhomeforSG.

Significance of Sing Together Singapore
The mass karaoke is aimed at rallying all together to appreciate and thank the efforts of Singapore’s frontline workers and migrant workers. The aim is to also encourage people to stay strong and not give up hope in these circumstances. The message is unity and safety during the circuit breaker period.
What Else is Happening in Singapore?
Singapore is striving hard to adapt with the COVID-19 lockdown. With support from the government, various groups are trying to keep the spirits of the citizens high.
Another virtual choir project from Voices of Singapore, has already recorded the legendary Dick Lee song – Home. This video features over 900 contributions singing the song from all over the world. The singers range from five years to eighty years.
The local veteran musician, Clement Chow, is also releasing a feel-good parody rendition of his National Day song, ‘Count on Me, Singapore’. The parody is called – Stay at Home, Singapore. Eleven local artists join Mr Chow in this video.
All these attempts believe that all Singaporeans’ hearts can be interconnected through music. Amid everything else, do stay at home, abide by the measures strictly and show your support, in solidarity.
