Just what are the signs of an intelligent child?
Parents Anira and Mohd only realised that their son, Muhammad Haryz Nadzim, was ‘special’ after attending nursery. They were told that Haryz was “more advanced than other children”.
“We didn’t have much experience, so we just thought that’s how kids were,” Nur Anira Asyikin Hashim tells Metro.co.uk.

At just two years old, little Haryz was already reading himself the entire of his favourite storybooks.
Following the revelation, Haryz’s parents went to set up a YouTube channel called Little Haryz, to help encourage other children.
And now, the 3-year-old has now been accepted into British Mensa, the global high IQ society.
The little ‘genius’ scored an astounding IQ score of 142. This is based on a Stanford Binet test conducted by Lyn Kendall, a psychologist who specialises in gifted children.

It is said that Haryz will be the “current youngest member” of the exclusive club, according to a Mensa spokesperson, once his membership paperwork is finalised.
The little genius—who uttered his first words at seven months old—has no inkling of how clever he is. And what’s more amazing is that English is not Haryz’s first language.
At home, Haryz’s parents who are based in Durham with engineering backgrounds, communicate with him in the Malay language.
They are no doubt delighted, and hopes that this opportunity presents a stepping stone for Haryz to “achieving incredible things”.
“It’s exciting and we are sure this will help him in giving him a little bit of belief and confidence in himself so he can better benefit society in the future,” said Anira.

Just like any other 3-year-old
While both parents hope to support Haryz with whatever he does and help him “reach his full potential”, they do not want their child to feel pressured from this decision.
All Anira wants is for her little one “to be a normal child who plays and does normal things that children do” as told to Metro.co.uk.
He is after all, according to Anira, just like any other 3-year-old. His interests include “jumping in puddles, painting, singing, all the normal stuff for a child of that age”.

Apart from that, Haryz loves reading books, asking questions and talking about space and numbers.
Like other kids, he loves to watch television programmes, but often prefers having conversations with older peers and adults.
With the acceptance to Mensa, the most important thing Anira said is for her child to be happy with what he is doing. “We will be proud of him no matter what he achieves.”
