Looks like it’s baby boom time in the celebrity world.
Right after Mandopop King Jay Chou and wife announced their second pregnancy on Valentine’s day, Mediacorp actor Shaun Chen also took to social media to announce baby No. 2, in the sweetest way possible.
He put up a photo of himself on Facebook and Instagram, kissing his wife’s pregnant belly, with the caption, “Is it going to be my or her Valentine’s? Or perhaps a little brother or sister to the elder girl? Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!”
The actor is obviously aware of the comparisons with Chou; he has been quoted by The Straits Times as saying, “The pregnancy is now stable, so I chose to announce it today. But Jay Chou was one step ahead of me.”
Shaun went through a bit of a rough patch early on in his life, with his career not really taking off, and a failed first marriage to actress Michelle Chia.
This new post comes as a a bit of a surprise, especially since the actor has been known to be fiercely private in the past. In fact, last Father’s Day he made news when he revealed his wife’s and daughter’s faces to the world, for the very first time on Instagram.
Since then, this father to an adorable 1-year-old girl, Nellie, has warmed up considerably to social media, posting cute father-daughter pics and of the family, regularly.
Aww..he certainly looks like a doting dad, doesn’t he?!
The second time parents are currently in the process of familiarising their first born to the idea of a new baby. Shaun has been quoted as saying, “We have been telling her that Mummy has a baby, and that the baby is in her belly. She touches the belly and says ‘baby’. It’s very cute.”
Meanwhile, though he has confirmed that his wife is currently four months pregnant, they are apparently unaware of the baby’s gender yet.
The Today quotes him as saying, “I am okay with a baby of either gender, as long as the child is happy. My wife prefers girls, though, because she thinks they are better behaved, and they can dress up and play together.”
Do you believe that belly shape can accurately predict a baby’s gender? For instance, people say that if you’re carrying all the weight out front, it’s a boy, but if the weight is more evenly distributed, it’s supposed to be a girl.
So what’s your guess? Is baby No. 2 going to be a boy or a girl for Shaun Chen? Let us know your thoughts in our poll below!
