School Fees Increased For PRs And International Students For 2022 And 2023: MOE

School fees in Singapore for permanent residents (PR) and international students in Government and Government-aided schools will increase for 2022 and 2023. 

The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced the revised school fees in a press release on Thursday (21 October). Meanwhile, school fees for Singaporean students will remain the same.

The increase of school fees for PR and international students was announced to enable parents to “plan for the financing of their children’s studies in MOE schools.”

The revision was decided as part of MOE’s regular review of school fees.

For 2022 and 2023, monthly school fees in Singapore will increase by $25 to $60 for PR students. Meanwhile, for international students, it will increase by $25 to $150 each year.

According to the ministry, the revised fees will take effect starting from January each year.

School Fees For Singaporean Citizens To Remain The Same

Unlike the revised fees for PR and international students, school fees for Singapore Citizen students in Government and Government-Aided Schools will remain the same. 

Singaporean citizens do not need to pay monthly school fees for primary school, said MOE. They are also expected to pay $5 and $6 per month for secondary school and pre-university respectively.

MOE adds that the standard miscellaneous fees will remain unchanged.

  • Second-tier miscellaneous fees are set by schools. They are also capped at the standard miscellaneous fees. 
  • Similar miscellaneous fees apply to students of all nationalities.
