We recently spent some time at Four Points by Sheraton in Seminyak, Bali – and we were pleased to find it had all the makings of the romantic getaway we were looking for. We’re pretty sure you’ll be giving the in-laws a ring and asking them to babysit for the weekend once you’re through reading this!
Getting there…
Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak is located, as the name suggests, in Bali, Indonesia on Seminyak Beach. Seminyak, touted as one of Bali’s most luxurious beaches, couldn’t be any more perfect for a much needed romantic weekend. White-sand beaches and blue skies for miles, forget California dreaming, we’re definitely suffering from Bali withdrawal.
Getting to Bali from Singapore is a relatively simple process – that is, a 2-hour 40-minute flight. Plus, if you book early enough, flights are relatively cheap! You’d be looking to arrive in Denpasar Airport in Indonesia. Once you arrive at Denpasar Airport, you will then be able to get a shuttle that will take you directly to the hotel.

Moving around…
Of course, you want to explore the rest of the world that surrounds your hotel! Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak was kind enough to rent a Honda Scoopy for us – motorcycles are the best way to get around in Bali. You do however need an international license, and please, remember to wear your helmets!
If you do not have an international license or if biking is just not your cup of tea, the hotel does offer a 24-hour buggy service to help you get to the beach or main road. There is also a shuttle service provided that hits up all the main beach bars and tourist hot spots such as the flea market and Seminyak Village Mall Bali.
Pamper yourself…
Aswangga Wellness & Spa
When it comes to a holiday, it’s all about spoiling yourself – after all, you deserve it. We found that Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak nailed it with the ultimate pampering in the form of an hour-long, couples spa treatment.
At the Aswangga Wellness & Spa, we were treated to foot scrub and wash to begin the spa treatment. This was followed by a lavender oil, body massage in the couple’s room. A 30-minute body scrub came next and we wish we could explain how rejuvenated we felt after, say goodbye to dead skin! The treatment came to an end with a milk bath, where we were left to soak for another 30 minutes. Talk about pampering!
You can also check with the hotel for the range of treatments that Aswangga Wellness & Spa can provide. Although, we think that the couples spa treatment is great – especially if your weekend is all about the romance.

Wine and dine…
Other than a good massage at the hotel, we suggest you hit the beaches and check out some of the many beach bars that are all the rage. With the kids being taken care of back home, we thought we could afford to enjoy a nice cocktail on the beach (and so should you!).
We recommend Potato Head Bali with it’s carefully curated cocktails or Ku De Ta and their chic decor. Both we found perfect for lounging, drink in hand while you watch the sunset. Alternatively, you can also check out the other bars that line the beach, such as La Lucciola or Cocoon Beach Club.
If beach bars are not your thing, there’s a good selection of food at the hotel itself. Above Kitchen & Lounge has a selection of dishes – with everything from Slow-cooked Beef Cheek to a Taragon Panna Cotta, you won’t be disappointed. They even set up an intimate dinner on the balcony of our hotel room!

The meal consisted of a salad starter, a steak and mash main and a strawberry cake for dessert. No, they did not forget that with steak there must be wine – a glass of wine was ready for each of us. A server came with each course and to clear the plates from the previous one. He even gave us some advice on what to see and do in Bali.
Additionally, all-day dining restaurant, Devali, overlooks the pool and offers international and authentic local cuisines. So feel free to take your pick! You really will be spoilt for choice.

We opted, however, to sit by the pool at Splash Bar where they serve a selection of light bites and drinks. The bar overlooks the pool that is located centrally in the resort’s garden. Regardless of whether you’re with family or just your significant other, the pool provides a relaxed atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing.
Even if you don’t actually want to get wet, we’re pretty sure you’ll appreciate the expansive sun terrace area that is surrounded by comfy beanbags. Go ahead, put your legs up and close your eyes!

Wind down…
When you’re done with a busy day or spa treatments and relaxing on the beach, we’re pretty sure you want a room that spells sanctuary. We spent the night in the Junior Suite – a 60 sqm suite with an additional sofa area and balcony (as mentioned). The king-sized bed and ultra soft pillows were just what we needed after a long day of, well, relaxing!

Fret not! The room comes with complimentary wifi – so you will be able to get in touch with home. We know you’ve been dying to check on the kids even if you’re supposed to be enjoying some romantic time alone.
When you’re done checking up on your little rascals, there is a flat screen TV (with cable) for you to enjoy. If you’re feeling peckish or thirsty the mini-bar is there to see to your every need, too!
If you’re missing the spa already, we suggest you take a soak in the bathtub before wrapping yourself up in a fluffy bathrobe and matching bedroom slippers.
What are you waiting for?
We suggest you start booking those tickets – like we said, if you book early, you could get a roundtrip for both you and the husband pretty cheap (roughly SGD$500). With the end of the year coming up, we say make use of your annual leave and rekindle the romance with your partner!
