Travelling along with three Virgin Galactic mission specialists, Richard Branson set off in the company's SpaceShipTwo craft “VSS Unity.” This was carried by WhiteKnightTwo aircraft to an altitude of 50,000 feet.

In fact, the mothership aircraft named after his mother called VMS EVE was launched on Sunday afternoon (11 July).

When VSS Unity ignited its own rocket, the four passengers were over 50 miles above Earth. They experienced weightlessness and were able to observe the curvature of our planet's surface.
