Taiwanese-British actor Rhydian Vaughan and his wife have lost their unborn child.

In a Facebook post, the 33-year-old actor penned a heartfelt letter describing what happened.

He wrote: “When we found out about the tumour, it was over 30 weeks [into the pregnancy]. The doctor said that you had an undeveloped kidney. Initially, we were just worried about the surgeries you would have to face after you were born, but now we’ve lost you. My heart hurts as if it’s being twisted.

“There are no words that can be used to describe the pain of losing a child, but I know you wouldn’t want me to lose hope for life. I will try my best to achieve that.”

“Thank you for your company these nine months. You’ve taught me that I should cherish what I have around me and those I care about.”

Rhydian ended his post by wishing his unborn child well while praising his wife, Jessie Hong, for being the “strongest person I know”.

The couple have a son aged around five. Rhydian announced his wife’s second pregnancy in January this year, and she was three months pregnant at that time.

His manager also told Taiwanese media that the family’s loss happened around June or July.
