Have yourself a WA-nderful Christmas this year with RE&S Enterprises! “Wa” means “Japanese” — RE&S Enterprises will be offering a plethora of oishii Japanese-infused seasonal mainstays that combines traditional Yuletide dishes with uniquely Japanese flavours.
This year, there are 19 takeaway offerings that you can enjoy at home for a safe and comforting Christmas dinner from Ichiban Boshi, Ichiban Sushi, Kuriya Japanese Market and Gokoku Japanese Bakery.
Get the party started with appetisers. The Gammon Ham & Potato Salad (S$26.80) sees the sliced ham tossed in a creamy mix of potato, corn, cucumber, carrots and hardboiled eggs.
Made with fresh wild fungi, the Good Ol’ Creamy Mushroom Soup (S$24.80) is a slurp-worthy offering with a thick consistency and robust flavour.
All the mains come with roasted baby potatoes, root vegetables and Japanese chestnuts. A classic southern family dish with a Japanese twist, the Yuzu Cream Salmon Stew (S$68.80) is filled with huge chunks of salmon and broccoli. The yuzu in the chowder cuts through the richness.
A hearty dish that is reminiscent of beef bourguignon, the Red Wine Beef Stew (S$68.80) takes over four hours using aged robust red wine. The beef is incredibly tender and flavourful! Each of these two offerings will come with a pot for easy handling.
For the Yuzu Mustard Baked Salmon (S$62.80), the Norwegian salmon is basted with a yuzu-mustard mixture and accompanied with a tangy dill sauce.
Boasting a Japanese twist on a classic, the Pineapple Honey Baked Ham (S$68.80) hits just the right balance of sweet and salty, and is served with cottage-style pineapple raisin sauce.
Christmas would not be complete without turkey. Since the celebration will likely be an intimate affair this year, the Roasted Turkey Breast Roulade (S$68.80) is a perfect choice. The breast is stuffed with gammon ham mousse filling.
It is also served with baby potatoes, assorted vegetables (carrots, lotus root, and burdock), and Japanese chestnuts. Or go with the Christmas Spiced Roast Chicken (S$56.80), which is marinated with six different herbs and spices, then served with the house-special red wine brown sauce and sour spicy cranberry kosho sauce. The chicken is incredibly tender and juicy.
There are also five sushi sashimi platters good for a party of 4-6pax to enjoy. The Merry Maki Platter (S$36.80) is thematically arranged in a shape of a Christmas tree and it consists an array of mini California roll, tuna salad maki, inari sushi, Sakura mayo inari, lobster salad handroll, crabstick maki, cucumber maki and tamago maki.

A must-have dessert for Christmas is the Bûche de Noël also known as a Yule Logcake, which measures 17cm and is available in three flavours. The log cakes are by Gokoku Japanese Bakery.
The Strawberry version sees moist vanilla sponge cake rolled with house-special strawberry jam and cream, then topped with strawberry cream imported from Japan.
For an earthy offering, go with the Matcha Azuki, which marries matcha sponge cake with green tea cream, Hokkaido red bean filling and matcha mont blanc cream.
Finally, the seductive Chocolate Hazelnut version is a dark chocolate sponge cake rolled with chocolate cream, hazelnut praline and crispy crunches, then coated with chocolate ganache. Each cake will go at S$42.80 — order before 12 December to enjoy 10% off.
Want something else other than logcakes? Opt for the Matcha Brownie Decadence (S$33.80), which is artistically topped with swirls of delicate cream. The petite Magical Christmas Macarons (S$12.80/box) will bring smiles to faces as well, with flavours such as mint, matcha, lychee and popcorn beurre in different boxes.
