My 3rd baby was born just last year on the 15th of July 2010 at K.K. Women's and Children's hospital.

It so happened that I had been to my doctor for my routine checkup and my baby was due to come on the 1st of August. When I went in for my checkup I told the doctor that I had been experiencing cramps and pain in my stomach since the past couple of days.

So when the doctor checked me she told me that my cervix had opened quite a bit and I may have to get admitted the next day itself.

I was shocked and confused since the date was 1st of August. So told me to call up my husband Terry who was at home with the kids and inform him about it. So I went out and called Terry who just as surprised and confused as I was. He is quite a strong person and agreed immediately that I get admitted the next day.

The doctor said that I had to come in the morning by 8.00a.m, so that she could start with the inducing soon. I finished up with the admission formalities at the hospital and went home. The kids were really excited that their mama was going to have a baby very soon.

D-Day

The next morning Terry and I along with the two boys left for the hospital by cab. We reached there quite early and had to wait for quite a long time for our turn since there were many babies to be delivered that day.

Finally at around 12.15 I was called in the labour room. My doctor Regina Zuzarte came in put the inducing drip and went away. The mid wife suggested that I use the gas mask to ease the pain. I refused since I didn't want to end up feeling nausea. When the contractions started I soon felt like I was going to pass motions and when the nurse checked me she said that baby would take much more time to come and that I need to pass motion first since it would cause further delay in the delivery. She tried her level best and helped me pass my motion, I had to push and push to get my motion out. I was very tried and stressed by the time I finished passing motion. The mid wife then told me relax for sometime and then I would have to get ready to push my baby. She again suggested that I use the mask (laughing gas) which I refused again.

Finally the time came for my baby to be delivered and Doctor Regina Zuzarte was called in. She too suggested that I use the mask to ease the pain, but I said I didn't want to since I would land up feeling nausea.

The full labour

Dr Regina Zuzarte told me push and I kept pushing and pushing but I had very little energy left and I had started to get severe cramps in my legs. I was very tired and unable to push. Dr Regina Zuzarte and Terry both encouraged not to give up since that baby was almost coming out. I pushed again and again and then screamed and gave one big push that the baby's head was finally out and I was relived and I said that was it I can't do it anymore and I began crying.

Terry then told me that baby's head was already out and that I need to give just one more push.

He added that I was brave and I could do it and I agreed and when I was ready I gave that final push and out came our 3rd bundle of joy our 3rd son who weighed 3.100gms and a head of 35cms.

I received loads of compliments from Dr Zuzarte, the midwife and nurses for being able to endure such great pain without using any pain relievers.
