The Public Hygiene Council (PHC) has partnered with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) to create eye-catching litter bins to encourage more Singaporeans to bin their trash. These Trashemons bins – named Timmy TumTrash, Claire ClawTrash and Eddy EyeTrash – will be deployed all around Singapore.

The three Trashemon designs are the winning submissions for the PHC-NAFA collaboration.
Second-year Diploma in Graphic Communication student Ms. Guo Yihan, who designed two of the Trashemons, said, “I was excited to be able to play a part in getting more people to throw their rubbish away properly. And now, thanks to the PHC, my designs have come to life! I hope that our bins’ quirky designs will help remind everyone to feed them instead of littering”.
Next up is a competition among secondary schools for more exciting bin designs. “Feed My Trashemons” design competition is open to secondary school students aged 13 to 17 years old to showcase their creativity.
Top three winners of the competition will receive cash prizes, and their winning designs will be showcased at PHC’s annual flagship event “Keep Clean, Singapore!” next year.
Students are encouraged to share how their designs promote anti-littering, recycling and appreciation of neighbourhood cleaners.

“We believe such competitions will encourage our youth to be more aware of their environment, and to creatively motivate others to keep it clean. Through the creation of the Trashemons, PHC hopes to capture the public’s attention and emphasise the need to throw their litter properly. The pandemic has improved standards for public cleanliness and hygiene, and we should continue to drive them higher by feeding our Trashemons bins instead of littering,” said Mr. Edward D’Silva, Chairman of PHC.
