Enjoyed the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival rides last year? Guess who’s back, back again – for the second year in a row!
The first Prudential Marina Bay Carnival was a huge hit, and the second edition promises to be bigger, better than ever. Once again, the Bayfront event space at Marina Bay transforms to a carnival paradise. Best of all, it is FREE entry for the whole family.

Here’s the details we uncovered from our exclusive sneak preview:
- Open everyday from 22 December 2018 to 24 March 2019, from 4pm to 11pm daily (except New Year’s Eve, from 4pm to 2am)
- Entry is free but you have to pay up for rides and game booths. Expect to fork out between S$6 to S$14 per ride and games from S$5 to S$8.
- One new theme every month, so the carnival will never be the same each month. It kicks off with the Crazy theme, followed by Loving and Epic.
- 23 rides altogether, with 4 never-before-seen new rides to try like the flagship Wave Swinger from Italy
- Skip the queues with a S$30 per person fast track pass. No need to wait for long lines on weekends, especially if you have fussy children

The centrepiece of this year’s event is the Wave Swinger – sit in suspended seats attached to a rotating roof while being raised up and down. Spot painted murals of local landmarks like Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay.

For the thrill seekers, the heart-stopping Mach 5 is back – you’re strapped to a rotating ride that stands 55m above ground spinning at 96km/h in eight seconds. Will you or the hubby dare to take this ride?

The Spring Break is a little closer to the ground, but mixes the best of both rides above – you spin and sway back and forth. A heart stopping ride not for the faint of heart.

If heights are more of your thing, the Star Flyer makes a return. You’ll fly 35m into the air for a birds-eye view of the Singapore skyline, which looks beautiful at night.

On the Jumper Jumper, the rotating ride floats up and down to the beat of music.
Don’t ride the Das Fun Schiff if you’re the queasy type | Source: File photo
Another classic making its return is the Das Fun Schiff, a huge pirate ship that sways back and forth. Warning: Don’t get on this ride if you’re easily queasy.

The kids will have fun at the Surf Shack, with an inflatable castle and super-tall slide they’ll be begging to get on again and again.

Or if you don’t mind getting wet, the Jungle River takes your family on a short spin before culminating in a giant splash at the end. Don’t forget to bring some extra clothes if you’re planning to get on this ride.

There’s even more carnival game stalls with S$3 million worth of plushies up for grabs (that’s seriously a lot of plushies). Play games like Ring Toss, Bowling, Circle Darts, Shoot the Stack, Wiggle Wires, Hook a Bag, Shuffle Boards… and that’s not even half of the games you can play at the carnival.

Take a break from the rides and indulge in some delicious food. We highly recommend Meatballs in a Bucket by Sofnade – a sinful combination of mashed potato, curly fries and your choice of either chicken or beef meatballs, drenched in cheese sauce and cranberry.
If that doesn’t tickle your tastebuds, check out the burgers at Burgnerds, the interesting Indomie concoctions at Singaindo and churros from Loco Loco. There’s definitely something here to satisfy your whole family’s palate.
Other fun activities
This year the carnival will feature exciting events, like Spot the Mascots (we hear there’s a unique Santa Claus roving about during Christmas) and food challenges for those with a big stomach.
