“Even the royal family will not be left alone,” reads the message.

Terrorists threaten to attack Prince George

According to the Daily Star, the spine chilling message was discovered on the encrypted instant-messaging app, Telegram, together with a photo of the little prince, standing in front of his school, Thomas’s Battersea.

The message even included the address of the school together with the comment, ‘school starts early’.

Prince George started school early last month, and his new school has been described as “a big, busy, slightly chaotic school for cosmopolitan parents who want their children to have the best English education money can buy.”

Fees here cost around £17,604 (US$23,000) a year.

Cybersecurity expert Barry Spielman told the Daily Star, “This threat to Prince George is chilling. Our intelligence suggests that these threats are to be taken seriously.”

Cyber security experts are now monitoring Telegram around-the-clock in an effort to stop potential terror attacks in the UK.

Apparently, this is not the first time members of the British royal family have been threatened online.

In 2015, extremist groups had threatened the Queen, and last month, in a disturbing video, they had challenged Prince Harry.

We hope no harm befalls little Prince George, and that, no child falls victim to such senseless acts of violence…

Singapore schools prepare for terror attacks

The threat of terror is real, and it was recently reported that anti-terror drills in Singapore schools are training children how to react and manage themselves in the event of a terrorist attack.

It seems, the drill begins with an announcement from the general office that relays a code that “an intruder” is in the compound. Everyone is to lock the classrooms, close all windows and switch off the lights and fans.

Students are instructed to either silence or turn off their mobile phones.

Students are also instructed to stay clear of windows and to hide by either crouching behind cupboards or pushing tables to the walls and doors so the children can take cover. When the premises are secured, there will be another coded announcement.

On a nationwide level, the Singapore Police Force advocates the Run, Hide, Tell method in the advent of a terror attack:

  • Run : Try to run away from the affected place as soon as possible. You might want to familiarise yourself with the exits of frequently visited buildings. This will help you to stay sane and make a calm exit.
  • Hide : Find cover, stay out of sight and keep quiet. Switch your phones to silent mode. When trying to hide, look for a strong support like a hard pillar, especially in case of gunfire.
  • Tell : Call the police on 999. If unable to call, SMS 71999 or use the Police@SG mobile app.
