More Primary One Places for Dragon Babies: How Many Exactly and Where?

The Ministry of Education will reportedly open 2,600 more places this year for Dragon year babies born in 2012 registering for Primary 1.

This increased intake was announced on 27 June by Education Minister Ong Ye Kung. He says there will be around 41,800 Primary 1 spots available in 2019, in 184 primary schools.

“The 184 schools takes into account the 14 primary schools that will be merged into seven schools,” reports The Straits Times.

These schools include:
  • Xinghua Primary in Hougang
  • Greendale Primary in Punggol
  • Horizon Primary in Punggol
  • Damai Primary in Bedok
  • Bedok Green Primary in Bedok.

Minister Ong further encouraged parents to select schools that suited their children’s interests and strengths.
