Swine flu, caused due to the H1N1 virus, typically affects those whose immunity levels are low. It is well known that young children, elderly and people with chronic infections are more prone to swine flu. When you are pregnant, your immune system is not its strongest. This makes you vulnerable to several illnesses and you may develop infections more easily.

In such a case, you are susceptible to the H1N1 virus. Even those pregnant women who are otherwise healthy, may be at a higher risk of falling prey to the swine flu. Previously too, pregnant women have been at a higher risk of developing infections at the time of raging pandemics.

To avoid getting affected by swine flu you should get a vaccination shot as soon as possible. Also follow all the precautions that doctors and medical professionals keep laying down from time to time. Wash your hands repeatedly. Cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing. Also avoid going to over crowded places where the risk of infection is more.
