It can be very alarming to see blood spotting after you have sex when you are pregnant. However, though it is not very common to have such kind of spotting, it is completely normal. You may in fact experience spotting even when you have not had intercourse.

The vagina has a mucus membrane inside it which becomes extremely sensitive during pregnancy. The blood comes very close to the surface of the mucus membrane in this case. When you have sex during pregnancy, the friction caused due to the rubbing of penis against the vaginal walls can cause a small amount of spotting.

This spotting does not cause much blood loss and therefore there is no harm to the pregnancy. No kind of medications are required to cure this spotting. However, if you have heavier bleeding, it may become necessary to get the opinion of a medical professional.
