Staycations are all well and good but sometimes, you just need to get out of the country. Treat yourself to a change of scene, even if the change is just across the border. We’re sure you’re busy planning your year-end family holiday and we discovered that the Oasia Suites Kuala Lumpur could be an option.
Flashy city life
The city of Kuala Lumpur promises the best of the city life we’re so well acquainted with, just the right amount of surprise that comes with the unfamiliarity of a new place. Oasia Suites provides an array of means through which you and your little ones can experience some much needed down time.
However, if you’re eager to get busy shopping, KL is full of great malls and shopping centres for you to get your fix. A short cab ride will end you up in one of their many malls – Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Petronas KLCC, Lot 10, Sungei Wang, you name it!
Enveloped in greenery
The property is conveniently located adjacent to Bukit Nanas, Kuala Lumpur’s only surviving rainforest and nature reserve. Meaning that you and your family get to experience both flashy, city lights and lush greenery, merely a stone’s throw away from one another.
Soak in all that nature has to offer with walks at the KL Forest Eco Park. We think there’s a certain kind of magic that comes with the outdoors. Expose the kids to mother nature, not everything is better with technology. It pays to shut off from the digital world every now and then.
Other activities
Opt for a pilates class or learn some self-massage techniques – something you can take home and practice on your own. We know you won’t always have the luxury of a massage every time your muscles cry out. So knowing how to take care of yourself back at home is a wonderful skill to learn.
Simply enquire about the classes and other wellness activities at the hotel concierge. There is also a 24-hour gym which gives you the option of sneaking in a workout if you’re worried about the extra calories you’ve been enjoying!
The hotel also has a pool on the 24th floor, the rooftop, that makes for a stunning view and place to lounge. Given that it is on the rooftop, it provides a nice escape from the city. There is no kid’s pool so we suggest you pack the floaties if you’re planning on having the kids splash about with you.

And when hunger strikes…
As soon as you’re finished with the hiking and appreciating what nature has to offer, we’re sure your stomachs would like to know what’s to come. Lucky for you, KL promises an endless assortment of food that’s sure to capture the attention of any foodie.
Comfortably nestled amidst Jalan P. Ramlee, Oasia Suites Kuala Lumpur hosts an array of food options. With everything from Japanese at Ozeki Tokyo Dining to Italian sky dining at Troika Sky Dining – we’re pretty sure even your fussiest of eaters will be excited come meal time.
Some of the delicious food we got to indulge in at Kafe Oasia!
Within the hotel itself, you will find Kafe Oasia, we found that the items offered on their menu were from environmentally responsible sources. We’d have to say our favourite item on their menu was the Ayam Percik Kelantan. It was a Kelantan-style grilled chicken with a spiced coconut sauce, served with Telang flower rice and some crispy pappadum on the side!
Rest and recharge
Aside from eating to your heart’s (or stomach’s) content and indulging in all that nature has to offer, there’s one other primary aspect of a holiday that we definitely have not forgotten. On holiday, you want to rest and recharge your body and mind. Oasia Suites Kuala Lumpur understands that.
Whether you choose to lounge by the rooftop pool, take advantage of the 24-hour gym that overlooks the Kuala Lumpur Tower or catch a musical with the kids – this place has it all. Have a swim with your little ones, catch up on taking care of yourself at the gym or instill some appreciation for the arts within the family.
Our room gave the feel of an apartment and we instantly felt at home. The built-in kitchenette made it easy to prepare meals, should you feel like dining in during your stay.
Plus, a washing machine and dryer meant that you don’t need to overpack since you have the option of washing and reusing! This also means more room for shoes and shopping – since shopping is much cheaper in KL, we know you’re going to want to get some done.
The bathroom came without a bathtub, which is a huge plus point if you’re worried about the little ones slipping during bath time. The hotel even has an anti-slip mat and shower benches available upon request should you want the extra safety option.
While the room we stayed in (1-Bedroom Premier Room) was more suitable for couples, the hotel does have a range of different rooms available. We recommend the 2-Bedroom Junior Suite, which is 78 sqm and should accommodate a family of 4 nicely.

What holidays should be about
Essentially, a holiday should be both a time away from all the crazy that accompanies everyday life and an opportunity to spend some real time with your family. Considering all this is available for less than an hour of flying away from home, we’d say this is a pretty good catch.
The current exchange rate also goes to say that you’ll be a little more willing to splurge on yourself and even spoil the little ones just a bit! Which is always a nice luxury to be able to afford – especially coming from norm of always trying to save, which us Singaporeans are so used to.
Go on, have a peek at what lies just next door to our humble little island – you’ll be surprised to find so much in store so close to home. We know we certainly enjoyed the short time out that we had at the Oasia Suites Kuala Lumpur and we think you will too!
