Ever since Nicole Kidman left Scientology after divorcing Tom Cruise in 2001, she’s had a strained relationship with her two adopted children, Isabella, 23, and Connor, 21.

"It was a very emotional moment for all of them"

Last year, Isabella got married, and neither parents were invited. However, Women’s Day reported that the 49-year-old actress has recently reunited with her daughter, and was even introduced to her new son-in-law, IT consultant Max Parker.

“It was a very emotional moment for all of them, especially Nicole,” a source told the publication. “It didn’t take long for her to burst into tears, and Bella soon followed.”

“Nic has been trying to build bridges with Bella since the start of the year,” the source continued. “Nicole took an instant liking to Max and could see that he and Bella get on really well.”

Isabella and Connor chose to stay with their father after their parents split, and were reported to have cut Kidman out of their lives because of religious reasons—the pair are Scientologists, while Kidman left the Church of Scientology after the divorce. Neither Kidman nor her kids have confirmed these speculations.

“I’ve chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology,” Kidman told Hollywood Reporter. “I have two children who are Scientologists—Connor and Isabella—and I utterly respect their beliefs.”

Isabella lives in Croydon, a working class suburb in south London, with her husband. In an interview with New Idea, when pressed on why she didn’t invite her adoptive parents to her wedding, she responded:

“Of course [we talk], they’re my parents.”

However, Kidman has spoken on multiple occasions about how she wished she were closer to her adopted kids. “My kids don’t call me mommy, they don’t even call me mom," she said in a 2007 interview with GMTV. "They call me Nicole, which I hate and tell them off for it.”

Kidman married musician Keith Urban in 2006. They have two daughters—Sunday Rose, 8, and Faith Margaret, 5—via surrogacy.
