Newborn buried alive

A newborn baby boy was found buried alive in a planter box. He had been strangled with a black rope and his mouth and ears were full of soil.

The baby was found at the garden at the sixth floor of block 31A in Eunos. Fortunately, the newborn was discovered in time to be saved.

Mr Cheng (60, retiree) who found the baby boy told Shin Min Daily News that he was smoking in the garden with his friends at about 2pm yesterday when they heard a cat-like noise behind the planter box.

He initially ignored it but as it got louder, he started looking around for the source and realised it was coming from beneath the soil.

“I saw the small toes of the baby boy protruding out of the soil, so I called my friends over for a closer look,” said Mr Cheng. “We thought that it was only a doll.”

He climbed up the planter, shoved his hand into the soil, and to his shock, found a baby buried underneath.

They immediately carried the baby out and discovered that a rope twisted out of black plastic bags had been wound tightly round his neck, nearly suffocating him.
