The National Art Gallery will be organizing an event at the Singapore Art Museum for children aged 4 to 7 this school holiday. This event is based on the National Art Gallery’s first children’s book – Salted Fish.
The book was inspired by Singapore’s most heralded artist Cheong Soo Pieng’s iconic painting, “Drying Salted Fish”. The book, Salted Fish, seeks to allow children in this age group to appreciate Soo Pieng’s painting through the adventures of a young girl named Lynn and her favourite toy, Cotton.
In the book, Lynn is on her first visit to an art museum when she discovers something strange about an important painting by a famous artist in Singapore. The National Art Gallery invites you to learn more about this story and how art touches the life of a child at its event, ‘Conversations in the Gallery’.
This free-admission event is held on 2 days at the Singapore Art Museum — Nov 12th and Dec 10th, at 7pm. Join author Yeo Wei Wei and illustrator Ye Shu Fang for a behind the screens discussion on Salted Fish.
