Mums and dads, expect the MRT closure in December to change working hours on East-West Line (EWL) and North-South Line (NSL).

All in all, 19 stations will be affected by the MRT Closure in December.

The LTA recently announced the move, to facilitate extended engineering hours for re-signalling and maintenance works. This should improve the overall reliability on the NSEWL.

  • Parallel shuttle buses will be provided along affected MRT stations during affected hours. Fares for these shuttle bus services will be similar to MRT fare.
  • Alternative rail lines such as Circle Line and Downtown Line will still be functional.

While we all know that SMRT isn’t perfect in its transport endeavours, this improvement is a big step in the right direction for the future. Who knows what stories we’ll be telling ourselves then.
