We heard of the Caring Corners Mrs Goodbee Interactive Talking Dollhouse recently and thought it was a pretty neat take on the usual dollhouse, especially since this one talks. And even teaches your kids about good behaviour...?
The dollhouse, packed neatly within its frame, unfolds to a full 8-room house, complete with kitchen, nursery, guest room, bathroom and others. The house comes set with in-built furniture, such as the nursery cradle, as well as little girl, baby and dog figurines.
The very structure of the house, which reveals 2 sides with different rooms, encourages one of the most important values for children in itself – sharing. At the same time, Mrs Goodbee preaches messages of social responsibility in a clipped British accent while kids play at different parts of the house.
The Mrs Goodbee Talking Dollhouse also encourages favourable behaviour through the “Good Deeds Garden”, designed to allow parents to reward their kids, with a new flower sticker in the garden, for each of the things they do. As an added incentive, the stickers, once peeled off, reveal secret codes for the kids to unlock more games in an online version of the dollhouse.
Another commendable feature is that this toy is actually a unique two gifts in one, one as a present for your child, another that she gets to give away. In addition to the lessons Mrs Goodbee imparts to the kids, Learning Curve has paired up with Goodwill Industries to come up with yet another nifty way to teach children the importance of giving back to society. Children are encouraged to return the Mrs Goodbee Dollhouse “Carton of Caring” (box packaging of the house) filled with their gently used toys and clothes, to be donated to their local Goodwill centres.
While we think the baby’s cooing and crying, not to mention disembodied voice and roving eyes of the house is mildly creepy, all in all, this toy seems to be a great way to teach your little one about proper behaviour in the house and exercising good home habits.
