For some parents-to-be, the road to getting pregnant is not always filled with promise. In fact, the journey can be nerve-wracking and heart-breaking, to say the least.
But that journey can be much more bearable if you know you are getting the best possible care and that you have hope.
A mum who recently gave birth to beautiful and healthy twin boys after going through fertility treatment shares about her positive experience at Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre.
Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre specialises in giving the best care to men and women who face fertility problems.
Internationally recognised by the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC) Certification scheme, the fertility centre offers a full range of assisted reproductive techniques. What was your journey to get pregnant like before you considered fertility treatment?
We tried to conceive naturally for half a year before opting for Traditional Chinese medicine. We then consulted a Traditional Chinese Medicine physician for another half a year before considering fertility treatment.
What factors influenced your decision to go through fertility treatment?
Traditional Chinese Medicine seemed to be taking a while, so we didn’t want to waste more time on it. We wanted to start a family sooner than later.
How did you go about selecting a hospital for the treatment?
Our gynaecologist, Dr Ann Tan, was consulting at Mount Elizabeth so that’s how we came to Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre.
How many rounds of fertility treatment did you undergo?
We went through two rounds of fertility treatment. First, we did intrauterine insemination (IUI) and then for the second round, we did intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

Can you share your thoughts about fertility treatment and how you felt through it all?
The support of an experienced gynaecologist like Dr Ann Tan and her nurses was extremely important to me during the ICSI process.
I felt that the process took a toll on me and was stressful to my body due to the many injections I had to take. There was also mental and emotional strain due to the uncertainty over the results.
However, I couldn’t help feeling blessed that the procedure worked for me after just one session. My husband and mother were very supportive during the process, which made the pain more bearable.
What was your experience like at Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre?
We had a good experience with Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre. I want to especially mention one of the nurses (I think her name is Wang Na) who was very helpful and offered a lot of insights.
What are your thoughts about the doctors and nursing staff who assisted you at Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre?
Most of our encounters were through Dr Ann Tan and her nurses. Dr Ann Tan is a very good and experienced doctor, and I felt safe in her hands. The same goes for her nursing staff like Hooi Nee.
If you had friends in a similar situation as you were in, would you recommend Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre to them?
