The terrifying video of a mother cheering as her boyfriend throws her child off a bridge is making waves throughout social media.

The video was taken by Kaylub Fawley, a local of Montesano, Washington which was where the incident happened. Fawley shares that while locals jump off the bridge onto the Wynoochee River for fun, they do so knowing the risks of jumping. Another witness, Brianna Jones, 19, adds that people who jump off the bridge are usually her age or older. She adds that the child almost hit a steel beam on the way down and that he narrowly missed some of the underwater boulders that experienced divers know how to avoid.

The horrifying part is that once the child surfaced, the mother tried to brush off the incident and make it seem like it was fun. Onlookers were quick to reprimand the mother for her actions.

“We all started freaking out and yelling at her, ‘You can’t do that!” Jones recounted. “She said, ‘He’s my kid, and it’s none of your business.'”

“You just don’t throw a kid off a bridge!” Jones added. “It made me so mad. … People like that shouldn’t have children.”

The incident was immediately reported to the police and they arrived 15 minutes after the incident. The police officer was immediately shown the video and he was visibly upset.

The child that was thrown off a bridge was also treated by paramedics. Fawley recounts that the officer told him the boy was fine, but was visibly shaken.

Officers that investigated the case believe that the woman should face “reckless endangerment and criminal trespassing charges, which are both misdemeanors,” according to the sheriff's spokesman.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Fawley said that he decided to make the video public because he wants people to understand the consequences of child endangerment.

“I hope that mother gets what’s coming to her,” he said. “I just want that child to be safe.”
