So, McDonald’s recently launched it’s own twist on traditional Singaporean favourites – the Nasi Lemak Burger and Chendol McFlurry, in conjunction with Singapore Food Festival 2017.

The Nasi Lemak Burger does not have any ‘nasi’ (rice), but consists of a coconut-flavoured chicken thigh patty, fried egg, caramelised onions and cucumber slices topped with sambal sauce and served between semolina buns.

The Chendol McFlurry meanwhile, contains chendol jelly bits and gula melaka sauce with vanilla soft serve ice-cream. There’s also Coconut Pie with a subtle hint of coconut, and crunchy bits of nata de coco jelly inside.

This spin on local cuisine has found many takers so far. Now that National Day is approaching and patriotic fervour is running high, we got thinking about other exciting uniquely Singaporean food combinations.

We went around asking our mums for (Halal) twists on fast food and got so many interesting suggestions! We think McDonald’s should check it out too! 🙂 Have a look, mums and dads, and don’t forget to take our poll at the very end!
