Study tips for stay at home mums

Study tips for stay at home mums

Dreaming of getting your MBA in Singapore but still want to take care of your kids? It can be done with these study tips for stay-at-home mums.

There’s no denying the fact that studying online while being a stay-at-home mum is next to impossible. The moment you sit down and open a book, our kids wake up from their nap, ask for a snack, or decide that they want to paint you a picture at that exact moment – which only means one thing: mess.

But, believe it or not, it can be done and there are many stay-at-home mums taking on the challenge and completing their MBA in Singapore, or other courses, successfully.

So if you’re a stay-at-home mum who is thinking about getting your MBA in Singapore while looking after your children, here are three tips to help you get the most out of your experience:

Get an adequate amount of sleep

Being a stay-at-home mum alone is a tiresome task, and by coupling it with being a student, you’re more than likely to be even more exhausted. Taking the time to rest is important.

As after a long day looking after your children, you’re less likely to want to put the adequate amount of time needed into your studies. By creating a timetable or schedule that you will be able to follow, will ensure that you get to bed at an appropriate time and in turn get an adequate amount of sleep.

Create a timetable or schedule

When you start your course, make a timetable schedule that you aim to stick to as best you can. Of course there are going to be times where you have to break away from whatever you’re doing to tend to a dirty nappy or clean up the paint that ended up all over the floor. But by making a schedule you will be able to plan your assignments in between your day-to-day tasks, such as feeding your kids and household chores amongst other things.

Have realistic expectations

This tip is very important. As a stay-at-home mum who is not only looking after her children full time, but taking on a course to further your studies, you will need to have realistic expectations. Even though it says that a degree takes ‘x’ amount of time, it will more than likely take you a little longer to complete. This fact is perfectly acceptable, and is not something that should make you feel defeated or like a failure. You will still need to find time to spend with your family, as well as look after your children in between assignments. Some course were created to suit student’s needs, yours included, so choose the right one.

These three tips will help you get through your time studying, and as long as you put in the hours and stick to your schedule as best you can, you’ll have your qualification in no time at all.
