Recently, Singaporean actor-comedian Mark Lee revealed that his daughter was suffering from a rare kidney disease. The five-year-old child is suffering from Glomerulonephritis, a rare medical condition caused by autoimmune disease.

Mark Lee’s wife Catherine Ng had also set up a Facebook page called “Cheers for Calynn Lee”, sharing their youngest child, Calynn’s condition.

“This is our first time learning of such a disease, so we hope for families with children facing the same medical condition to leave a comment and help us understand it better, and better learn how to care for her,” Catherine wrote.

But now, a scammer has misused the information and pictures shared on the site to ask for donations.

Scammer Uses Mark Lee’s Sick Daughter’s Photo to Ask for Donations

It was a Facebook user who first alerted Mark Lee and Catherine to the fraud. Someone was attempting to raise $200,000 using the picture of Calynn lying down on a hospital bed.

The scam has made the couple furious. They expressed their anger through a Facebook post, “It is immoral to cheat others. It’s even worse to use a child’s picture to do so.”

“Please, if you have seen this post, send it to us immediately. We will call the police… We must not allow anyone to use pictures of little children to cheat.”

They also stressed that, “We have absolutely no intention to launch any donation… Please everyone don’t be fooled…”

Meanwhile, little Calynn has shown signs of improvement. It will take her about six months to complete the prescribed treatment.

Here’s hoping that the little child recovers soon.
