If you suspect that your money or other possessions are being stolen, ensure that they are not simply being misplaced. Do not be rash but conduct a thorough check of the house if you think your maid is stealing from you.

2. Discuss the issue with your spouse

If you think your maid is stealing from you, the first step is to discuss with your spouse about the situation. If your spouse thinks likewise, then at least you will know that you are not being overly paranoid.

For example, if you think that some money is stolen, rather than rashly accusing your maid of stealing it, it is possible that your children may have borrowed your money but forgot to inform you.

Remember, don’t just assume that your maid is stealing from you.

4. Confront your maid

If you are sure that your maid is stealing from you, confront her about it. Do not scream at her and insist that she is a thief as you must bear in mind that it is just a suspicion and that she is innocent until proven guilty.

If your maid came in through an agency, you should contact them to file a complain and get their help to speak to her.

Do also check your contract and see if you are able to change your maid for no cost in the case of her committing a crime.

6. Gather some evidence

If you are completely sure that your maid is stealing from you but she denies it, then gather some evidence to prove it.

If your maid is indeed a thief, chances are that she will likely steal from you again. Installing a CCTV or checking her belongings are some possible solutions.
