A five-year-old who attended childcare centre Little Treasures Childcare in Woodlands tested positive for COVID-19, which resulted to the temporary closure of the centre until Tuesday (21 April).
The child was last in the centre on 7 April, and was quarantined after a family member was confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus on 13 April.
The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) has directed that the centre located at 848 Woodlands Street 82 be temporarily closed from Monday (20 April) to Tuesday (21 April), which covers the 14-day incubation period since the last day the child was in the centre.
According to ECDA, all affected staff and children will be placed on a Leave of Absence during the closure.
Barring any new developments, ECDA said the centre will resume limited services on April 22 to cater to parents who are working in essential services and are unable to extend their alternative care arrangements beyond the closure period.
The centre has conducted a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the preschool premises and is closely monitoring its staff, parents, and children at the centre to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all.
Contact tracing is ongoing.
Several Coronavirus Cases Involving Children Reported In Singapore
There were several coronavirus cases involving children that have been reported since 16 April.
On Sunday evening (19 April), five children—four from the same family—were confirmed to have the COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
Four other children between age 2 to 13 were also reported in the past week.
All cases involving children reported recently were linked cases of family members.
