It’s incredible to think that just over 12 months ago, items like hand sanitiser and face masks were pretty much limited to hospitals. Now, families across the world have adapted to the “new normal” and they’ve become part of everyday life. And for babies born in 2020, this is all they’ve ever known. As this baby girl born in 2020!
A mum has shared a video showing just how adaptable kids can be – with her little girl now assuming everything is a hand sanitising station.
In a now-viral video which has been called both “heartbreaking” and “hilarious”, the sweet tot shows her commitment to stopping the spread of COVID-19 – and it is absolutely adorable.
What Happens When You Are A Boy Or Girl Born In 2020?
Mum Katie Lightfoot shared the video of her little girl casually strolling up to electrical boxes, street lights and even differently-coloured bricks sticking out of walls and placing her hands underneath.
When she’s waited a few seconds, she strolls away while rubbing her hands together.
“When your first year of life is 2020, everything is a hand sanitising station,” Katie captioned the video, which has now been viewed by millions of people.
Clearly mimicking an action she’s seen her mum and dad do hundreds of times, the little girl is oblivious to how different her life is to kids that have come before her.
Is the video of the girl born in 2020 confronting or funny?
Reactions to the video were mixed online, with many saying it was confronting to see what effect the pandemic was having on little ones.
“If you don’t laugh you cry. I worry about my baby girl who has never seen a face except me and my husband, but she has started laughing at brightly coloured masks,” wrote one US Reddit user.
“My sister just had a baby who’s a few months old now, the baby constantly thought the mask was part of everyone’s face,” wrote another. “she seems confused when those around her take it off to reveal their actual faces.”
“If a toddler can do this, why can’t some adults?” wrote a third.
There Was Some Humour To This Too!
However, others saw the lighter side of it all.
“This is hilarious,” laughed one, while others joked that she was building a strong immunity from everything she was touching.
“This isn’t sad, she’s learning to be clean and considerate in public like we all should be,” added another.
“She’s gonna need hand sanitiser after touching all of that,” quipped another user.
