As a child, I remember spending countless hours playing dress-up with cousins or friends. We would rummage through my mum’s closet for clothes and accessories, and then run around the house pretending to be whatever we wanted to be.
Gone are those days, and now as a mom myself, I’m glad that there’s an event where my kids will be able to do the exact same thing without me having to tidy up after them.
At Let’s Play Pretend at Junction 8 and Sembawang Shopping Centre, children aged 4-12 years old can take part in fun and enriching activities wherein they get to dress-up in professional outfits and role-play a variety of careers.
If your child has been dreaming of becoming a doctor, then bring him over to Let’s Play Pretend at Junction 8 where other than getting dressed up in a doctor’s coat, he’ll learn how to take a patient’s temperature and check the patient’s blood pressure and heartbeat using real medical equipment.
He can also dress up as a policeman and solve mysteries, or pretend to be a pilot and take control of a flight simulator. Other careers available are chef, cashier and horticulturist.
As for my kids and I, we’ll be heading over to Let’s Play Pretend at Sembawang Shopping Centre. Careers available there include musician, ballerina, scientist, news broadcaster and teacher.
For news broadcaster, my eldest will be brought into a news room and will be taught a thing or two about reporting for a news channel. On the other hand, as a teacher, my younger son will be able to conduct his very own class as an English instructor.
Now, in case you’re wondering how this works, Let’s Play Pretend will be open to the public from March 16 – 22, 12 pm to 8 pm. While parents may accompany their children the registration station, they will not be permitted into the activity area. Not a problem though as Let’s Play Pretend is a hour long activity that will keep a maximum of 12 kids busy role-playing one career after another.
After the children have finished role-playing all 12 careers, they are rewarded 2,400 star coins and an exclusive premium each. The star coins can be used to redeem exclusive gifts under the SPARKS programme. For more information on SPARKS, please visit www.capitastar.com.sg
Imagine that, a hour to yourself while your children unleash their imagination and learn about the different work professions while having fun. The cherry on top though is that all you need to do is spend a minimum of $30 for each child to gain entry, quite a deal!”
So, if you want to nurture your child’s imagination while letting them learn about the professional world through fun and enriching role-play activities, then head on down to Let’s Play Pretend at both Junction 8 and Sembawang Shopping Centre!
