Money can compensate for time. At least that is what the action of Hong Kong singer-actor Leon Lai seems to imply. He recently bought a US$2 million (S$2.8m) mansion for his in-laws to make up for not visiting them since his marriage to their daughter, Gaile Lok, in March 2009.

Since their secret Las Vegas marriage, the Heavenly King has been too caught up with work to visit his in-laws, Hong Kong news reported.

When Gaile, Hong Kong fashion show model and actress, returned for a visit to her family home in USA earlier this year, her 43-year-old husband was unable to tag along due to ongoing concerts in America and Macau. In way of apologising for his absence, Leon has decided to gift his in-laws a brand new mansion.

Gaile, who is supposed to accompany her parents to pick and choose the mansion on Leon’s behalf, refused to comment on the matter, saying that she “will not answer these gossipy questions”.
